@aduddlebryan: I was able to come off Lexapro after six years because I was taught how to combat intrusive thoughts. And it seems incredibly counter intuitive but you REINFORCE the thought. For example, if the intrusive thought is consistently that you leave the stove on and that the house is going to burn down while you are at work, you tell yourself “the stove is on and the house is going to catch on fire” repeatedly. 10x, 100x, 500x. You know you turned it off, but for whatever reason your brain has latched on to that idea. And this can manifest itself in checking the stove 3 times before you leave for work every day. But by reinforcing the thought you trick that OCD part of the brain. In other words you punch that mofo back in the jaw. It’s why I have never even considered going back on Lexapro because that tool alone has allowed me to shake off intrusive thoughts so much more easily #ocd #intrusivethoughts #anxiety #lexapro
yeah. I learned to recognize my intrusive thoughts, accept they were intrusive and there's nothing wrong with that, but recognize they aren't my beliefs and don't make me a bad or good person for just having those thoughts

How long did it take for me to feel better after stopping the medication? It's been two months since I stopped taking it. Do withdrawal symptoms come and go during this period?

Omg babe I was on it a decade, loved it, but wanted to be natural after I saw long term effects. The migraines and vertigo were so scary bad, and I weened off it for months like you’re supposed to

I get on Lexapro then my anxiety and ruminating obsessive thoughts goes away, but then I feel numb and brain dead so I get off of it — then a year later I go back on. Cycle repeats. I try to fight them so bad — so I will try this. 🖤

OCD has scared me so much it’s taken away my security (like sense of safety) in myself and in my whole world, it really strips your identity so much I sometimes even question if I really have it lmao

I have been on Lexapro for 10 years, no issues or side effects.
This medication 💊 saved my life.
The 1st month- tired & diarrhea
2nd month to 6 months- No feeling in my vagina.
After that....perfection. No issues.
Life Saver/ It gets better. Therapy helps. I went for 2 1/2 years and gained clarity and helpful coping skills.
