he buys himself gifts in the hundreds of dollars price range. every one in a while he gets me something, but if I don't use it in the way he likes he threatens to return it. "if youre going to wear this nice purse I got on your back then I'll just return it" like I don't have a job too.

Omg my husband does this to me constantly. I quit my job and moved countries for him. He’d take me places and out on dates but then expect profuse thank yous and always held what he spent on me against me.

Seriously yelled at me over 10.00 for birthday party supplies. And didn’t know why I bought forks for a pizza and cupcake party for 4-5yr olds. $2.97 for the forks and shouted at me for a half an hour. 😳

I have divorced parents and my mom yelled at me saying I only use her for to drive me to friends house if when I can go over there or buy stuff (for friends for birthday and such and I say I would work to pay it back for her) I didn’t have a car or a job at the time 😭

How about him covering more of the bills because he has a better job since I lost about 3 years of work when our son was a baby so we didn’t have to pay for childcare? And that was something we agreed on at the time but I am told I need to “make more money”- I’ve been working my way up over the years and this is my best year yet- made 20k more than last year and have pretty much given him all of it to put towards bills, mortgage, new car down payment, etc out of guilt and trying to pay him back for covering more in other ways. I don’t understand why it’s still a conversation, it’s not something I can change overnight but I’m busting my ass trying 😞
