SGJ is one of my favorite authors ever, but I will say that this is my least favorite book of his (from what I’ve read, haven’t 100%-ed his work yet)

i do love horror and i still had similar feelings about my heart is a chainsaw… i went into it wanting to like it but had similar issues with the narration style and the MC felt like a caricature of a misfit teen girl so much so that i had to dnf and im still mad about how much i disliked it

I'm with you. Mr. Magic is about as deep into horror as I want to go. I don't know what it is about horror that turns me off. I want to say the gore, but I have no problem reading a grimdark fantasy. I think that's one of the things I like most about your series, that you're pushing yourself to read outside your comfort zone. It is inspiring! I'm such a mood reader and I often want to break out of my box but it's... so cozy in here. Can't wait to hear what you think when you're all done. Happy reading!
