Lived in London for 9yrs and NYC for 15. London has people with knives stealing your phones. Nyc literally has people with GUNS. Both are unsafe esp for women sometimes nyc feels safer because there are so many people around but anything could happen.

In 2022 London had 109 homicides. New York had 438 homicides. If a crime happens to you personally (don't know if it did) I think it understandably can warp your perception.

Living in London and been a lot of times in NYC - I feel safer in London. The subway in NYC is dirty and full of crazy people whereas in London I’ve never felt scared taking the tube at 3am - But prefer NYC all the way tho

Idk I went to NY earlier this year and when I came back to London I was kissing the ground. Got followed/harassed a lot in NY. Plus the guns. But I’m visiting again next month.. so let’s see if it changed lol

I don’t think you can say pick pockets = dangerous city. London has 4x less murder and around 3x less aggravated assaults. London’s much safer. Just gotta be a bit more careful with your phone

So true. I feel like especially at night where streets are completely empty, whereas in New York you are never ever alone at any time. I also feel like people are more mindful of each other, while in London they’d just run you over.

NYC is far more intense. From a Brit that’s lived in both. You have to pay attention on the subway in ny. You can zone out on the tube in London. I don’t even think it’s close. Ny is the best city itw tho. Energy is unmatched. I love it
