As a wildlife technician heavily involved in conservation in this state, Illinois is light years ahead in terms of ambition and action for restoring our natural ecosystems. It’s amazing I will forever be proud of the prairie state

I started planting native flower plots a few years ago. I also stopped raking leaves in the fall. My yard is full of pollinators and birds now. ❤

I am not sure how bison roaming wild would work out in Illinois. While there are some preserves, the majority of Illinois is small towns and farmland. I don’t think that’s gonna go well. Just my opinion. I’m all for it. Don’t get me wrong. Re-introducing native species. I think is a good thing. I’m just not sure how well it’ll work out.

my yard is already a pollinator pocket, monarch way station, and wildlife habitat. I still get the tickets from my municipality 🤣

my brother's best friend is a conservation officer here in Illinois and while the bill is a good thing in some ways it doesn't allow enough funding for the conservation to go back in to reclamate the land. I don't know if they changed that in the final version that they passed but this was from a conversation we had a few weeks ago about it.
