Biggest issue is front wheels need to be chocked, to prevent rolling , once both wheels are lifted the park brake or parking pawl in trans do nothing on a sloped driveway to stop it rolling

I've done it for years, with no problems. Probably to be safe use a piece of 2x4 between.

whether the placement is good or not depends entirely on your jack and what year model. some years the cover plate went all the way to the edge of the axle housing, some had a tiny flat spot for jacking, others like yours the did cover is just small enough to safely jack on the stuff without bending the cover.

Jack stands for safety - just in case the jack peters out.

It's objectively non-harmful as long as there are no lips of the Jack concentrating on the lips of the differential PAN, done it for over 40 years in 2 shops on thousands of vehicles & never a problem.✌

That flat spot on the bottom is an engineered jack spot.😁
