It’s not just about being fast. It’s about being accurate and safe. You go too fast, you skip steps or mess up and then you get 2 guys injured or worse.

My drill sergeant once said slow is smooth smooth is fast. You rush and you mess up and end up wasting more time.

Truthfully linemen should have a panic button on their radio system immediately alerting their closest office, law enforcement and fire and ems.

I get this is a timed test but sending un readable comms is not a good habit to build. An extra few seconds can save lives and have the dispatch not try an decipher your transmission.

Yall this is just training at school. They have a guy equipped on the ground everytime. If you’ve never been a lineman, you’d never know.

Yes speed is important but not in all aspects of a rescue ABC of radio transmission my guy. Accurate brief clear. Can’t help if they can’t understand you

As a retired tower climber we always made sure there were 3 people geared up, harness on. 1 actual climber and two standby just in case. I have been that standby guy and it saves a full minute oe two at times. that minute or two can make a big difference

the only thing done wrong was not being clear and calm over the radio he needed to take a breath slow down when speaking and properly articulate his words

Incase y’all didn’t know as dispatchers we can replay what he said and we learn to understand over time, I heard it on the first go without captions. He said it loud and clear and to the point
