@alliekantor: Bucket list trip 🐻 Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park🐻 Being one of the most remote National Parks, the journey to Brooks Falls is part of the adventure. We flew a short 20 minute flight by float plane from Katmai Lodge on the Alagnak River and landed on Naknek Lake in front of the falls. After walking up the beach the first thing everyone must do is attend Bear School to learn how to interact with the bears to keep both humans and bears safe. After Bear School it’s about a one mile walk up to the falls. For most of the walk you are on an open trail where if you come across a bear, they have the right of way and you must get off the trail. Once you get closer to the falls, where the most concentration of bears is, you are up on a platform to view the bears, you must be quite and not cheer when they catch a fish (which was hard for me). After your time is up on the falls you can continue your viewing from the lower falls platform or head back to Brooks Camp where there is a gift shop and restaurant.
