I’d never have stayed sober if it weren’t for AA meetings with kid’s rooms. I hope any parent who sees this doesn’t get discouraged. Take the kids. It’s ok.

I went to a lot of AA meetings with my Dad. Learned how to make coffee. It was a good experience for me and convinced me to never take a drink since my family has a history of alcoholism on both sides of the family.

I grew up going to meetings with my dad, there was usually other kids to play with too. I learned a lot from the meetings, as well. Judges like this are the problem

Wait… why? I used to go with my grandma to AA as a kid. There was literally nothing negative. How is hanging out with a bunch of people trying to make themselves better people bad for kids?

There is nothing wrong with taking a child to an AA meeting, especially when it keeps the parent sober. There are many that have childcare.

I went to AA with my mom and my sister didn’t. Guess who never needed AA 🙋🏼♀️and guess who did. Some of my best memories involved the meetings and understanding how to cope as I grew up!

As a child of an addict I would have rather gone to AA meetings than cleaned up after a party he threw. AA isn’t the problem the bar and the car are!

my son was born when I was in rehab. we were there till he was 8mo old and my older kids (7+8 at the time) came for overnights regularly.

My mom took me. And I watched her dig herself out of the hole. You have no idea how many times I think back to that time when I’m having a hard time. The lady that ran the meeting helped me get my ged after she saw me slipping into the hole. If the program is taken seriously, bring the kids, if that’s what it takes.

I went to NA meetings with my Dad growing up. Guess who decided after hearing people share their stories to never do hard drugs 🙋🏼♀️it also taught me a lot about what addicts go through. It was definitely educational.
