Making art is fun, but what I’ve discovered is that it also takes these 3 things to see the process all the way through to the end; and for those of us that are really serious about it, to see it through to the end of our lifetimes. It requires us to practice: 1. Self-discipline - it’s important not to stray off the path and get distracted by everything that’s happening around us. Practice pushing yourself to stay focused during the moments when you might not “feel” like working. Breaks in between are necessary, but stay the course and complete the task at hand ✨ 2. Patience - anxiety will often times cause us to get impatient with the creative process and want to give up before we’ve even really started, but learn to suppress it by controlling your thought life. Keep a humble and subservient mindset when creating a piece and try not to put the burden of the “final look” on your back so that you don’t become frustrated with yourself. The final product will manifest itself eventually, but the journey, the toil, the “figuring out” of creating a piece of art in itself is usually where all the magic happens anyways, and is when you learn even more about who you are and the things that make you tick 🩵 3. Surrender - leave everything that’s happening to you externally behind; do what you need to get into your zone; and give everything, including the final outcome of the piece, to God. Creating any form of art is more spiritual than people would like to admit or give credit to. I don’t care what anyone else has told you, but it actually is just that deep lol. So acknowledging the source of your gifts and giving it the power and full creative autonomy to do its thing through you will only help your artwork become that more impactful and not hurt it (depending on who you acknowledge as God, of course). Even if you’re just creating the piece for yourself, step into your creative space with a submissive heart, and then watch the real magic happen ✨ #steviewonder #artistsoftiktok #fyp #creatorsearchinsights
