@pbsnews: Utah Gov. Spencer Cox called the killing of conservative commentator and activist Charlie Kirk a “watershed” moment Friday, and suggested Americans must choose whether his death becomes “the end of a dark chapter in our history or the beginning of a darker chapter.” At a news conference where authorities announced a suspect had been arrested in the Sept. 10 killing, Cox reflected on the incendiary and precarious time in which Americans find themselves. “This is our moment: Do we escalate or do we find an off-ramp? And again, it's a choice. It's a choice. And every one of us gets to make that choice,” he said. He also called social media a “cancer on our society right now,” saying humans aren’t wired to be able to process the immediacy of having violent imagery of Kirk’s fatal shooting “in all of our hands and in all of our pockets.”“It is not good for us. It is not good to consumer,” he said. Cox encouraged everyone listening to “log off” and do good in their communities, including reaching out to people with different political perspectives. #CharlieKirk #news #politics

This wasn’t a watershed moment. It doesn’t even rise to the level of important; it’s merely notable.

Putting CK up in STATURE to the JFKs or MLKs or even Malcolm X is what’s wrong here. He was just a talking head for the Christian Nationalist Party that was great at debate but not so great at empathy, Inclusion, or understanding. He had his faith and his Bible and he used it to promote his Ideology to the youth of this country and he was successful at helping DJT get back into office which time will tell whether or not we survive that.

Rhetoric from Charlie Kirk, Donald Trump and others led us to this moment. Hopefully we can learn from it and make tangible, legislative changes so we can be better as a country.

Maga will not be mature enough to work with us to make this the end of the dark chapter. I think they’ll use this to get more violent.

It could be the end of dark times but it would require Republicans doing things they won't do like common sense gun laws, stop dangerous rhetoric, caring about all people, etc

Stature? I didn’t even know of that man. Didn’t know his words until he was gone. And is this the guy who “prayed it was someone from another country or out-of-state?”

It continues to go downhill from here. The chaos we’ve inflicted on the world for 80 years is coming home to roost. I fear karma is here.
