I saw a physio therapy place use them like water wings a ring on each back leg so they can still lean against each other for support ❤

Maybe you can take just a small piece of the original pool noodle and place it horizontally between the hind legs. The distance between the legs still seems to be relatively small. That would also be closer to the natural anatomy.
