As someone with literally 4 degrees in this it annoys me how ignorant people are about AI and just anything in the world and will just blabber nonsense. No current AI can think for itself, it processes information based on programming and training data to perform tasks and make predictions, rather than having consciousness, self awareness, or original thought. While AI’s can exhibit complex behaviors and produce novel outcomes, these are emergent properties or statistical inferences from its vast datasets, not a result of independent, conscious reasoning or genuine understanding. Like be so fr yall 🙄

The problem is AI is being thrown around but it doesn’t exist. Artificial intelligence requires self awareness, which doesn’t exist at present. At the moment, what the media and companies are labelling ‘AI’ is just a program that has access to a huge library of data, we’re uploaded. The program is written in such a way it’s able to communicate that information back to us. The program has no self awareness, no ability to access its code to rewrite it.
