I can just picture it: Vegeta acting like he hates it when Bulma starts acting affectionate, but his tail wagging happily behind him telling us how he really feels. Or his tail instinctively wrapping around Bulma’s waist or leg whenever she’s close enough.

Another detail from DBS Broly, we see Paragus’ tail twitch when he becomes angry. Also, I like the idea that if Broly got his tail back, then it could somehow allow him to better control his Ikari state, since that power stems from the Oozaru.

actually toriyama left out the tail simply because he didn't feel like drawing it people sometimes forget toriyama was very lazy and Dragon ball was actually a side thing for him as his main thing he was focused on was dragon quest. he started to focus more on dragon ball after he saw evolution and was disgusted by it so he made battle of God's then super

I love that idea, I think another headcanon I saw which is interesting is that Vegeta’s natural hair is actually red which leads to being an elite etc but under earths atmosphere it’s black but if were under Sadala’s natural atmosphere it would be a deep red

I heavily agree. Without their tails, Saiyans just look like Yamcha, and I don't mean that as a dig towards Yamcha at all, but look at him during the Cell Saga, and look at Gohan during most of DB Super.

I've always thought the tails would definitely help the aesthetic choices later on. like if SS god wasn't just younger Goku but instead looked like SS4 Goku. and as they go stronger, Goku and Vegeta would specialize and lean into the beast look in different ways

toriyama Hated to draw the tails on them so he made them all lose there tails canonically so he didn't have to draw them anymore but if you read DBS manga past where it was animated whis let's Goku know during a training session that if he still had his tail he would be exponentially stronger and lets him know that regardless of what is done absolutely No mortal being can ever reach their true potential without access to all of the physical traits of their species

so here's my idea of why it happened. it represents their primal nature and inner animal, and they loose the tail or connection to nature when they form deep connections with civilization and society. we see this in the show. when does goku loose his tail? or Gohan? they both loose it when they first make friends outside of their own family AND shows their full primal and natural self or ozaru forms and the others cut it off in fear. they stop growing back once they have a solid connection with the other people and become a full member of society (goku finishes his training with god forming a universal connection and becomes a known person around the world, Gohan when he also becomes known by everyone on the planet via TV coverage, same time vegeta looses his.) and gotten and trunks never have one because they ALWAYS had those connections and integration. loosing the tails is the physical effect of the mental and spiritual changes and training they go through. because in martial arts, true power is combining and balancing your inner and outer forces, your primal and civilized nature's. if they kept the tail, they could not advance which is also shown in the show cuz when each one looses the tail, they become stronger in all metrics. goku finally wins the world martial arts tournament, vegeta starts getting more zenki boosts until he goes super saiyan naturally without an outer catalyst, Gohan learns to channel and control his emotions, gotten literal goes super saiyan with no personality change without effort.

my head cannon was that they needed to lose their tails to become super saiyans to counter act not being able to having the great ape transformation.
