It never occurred to me before you posted, but I honestly find one aspect of Katniss’ narration in the hunger games hilarious and that aspect is the fact that she has absolutely no idea that people generally like her and enjoy her company. Like, Madge Undersee literally gave her her late aunt’s mockingjay pin, which is basically a family heirloom at that point, and Katniss’s reaction is basically “why is rando number 4 giving me this? I mean yeah, we eat lunch together and we’re lab partners, but I’m a gruff loner and she isn’t, so there is no way that we could possibly actually be friends.” It gets less cute at the end of book 1 where she looks Peeta dead in the eye and says “oh, yeah me loving you was just a bit.” But still.

There’s a barely noticeable running gag in six of crows that the other characters make fun of kaz’s (the traumatized broody leader of the group) hair cut and he’s insecure about it and it’s the funniest thing in the world to me

Counterpoint: the John Dies at the End books are legitimately the funniest media I’ve ever engaged with, but I wouldn’t say any of the characters are particularly “real” in how they act.

Yes. Situational comedy is always the way to go. The thing i hate is that more shows are going down the “funny quip” humor route that Marvel popularized rather than sticking to situations and unique character interactions that were way funnier in the first place 💔
