Quick question…just out of interest. I’m British & we just place the casket/coffin straight into the ground. Why do you place it into a vault in the US before lowering it? What is the significance of the vault? I’m just interested. X

Strange. In Ireland, family members often lower the coffin themselves and cover it with a plank & flowers. The grave is then reopened and filled after everyone leaves.

2023 I saw my dad being lowered. I held the tears til everyone left. I was 39 and I still cant believe he is gone.
