Clark destroyed their relationship by not telling her earlier, I get that he was protecting her, but she was still in danger all the time, it wouldn’t have made that big of a difference in that department, but it would’ve made a difference in their relationship.

One of my favorite episodes and discussions of the show! Very honest and vulnerable moment between Clark and Lana and so proud of Lana for not allowing Clark to let her off the hook so easily. This episode has some great dialogue exchanges!

That was brilliant on Lana's part; she needed more scenes like that. There was so much to explore w/ Lana but she was boxed into "love interest on a pedestal" for too long. I do love that for the first few seasons - we saw both Lana and Lex from Clark's rose-tinted glasses, and slowly either we saw their dimensions from other/omniscient narrative angles- OR in Lana's case she matured and realized she doesn't want to be on anyone's pedestal, anymore, but loved for her flaws and darkness as well. Of course that would eventually show a values mismatchwith Clark, but they had her get hurt by Brainiac (yet again a victim) instead of follow up on this character breakthrough. ❤️They should have had Clana mutually decide to love each other as friends instead of contriving the kryptonite reason in S8, maybe even had Pete make a cameo where the seeds of that happy future were teased.

i think lana ALWAYS had that problem in that town. everybody looked at her as who they wanted her to be. even Nell expected her to follow in her footsteps. getting away from smallville and definitely clark was the best thing she could've done. which is why it was annoying when they brought her back in season 9
