My manager has "managed" our department for 15 years but wouldn't be able to tell you how the day to day operations work. Our team is roughly 40 people a day? She was genuinely surprised to see the results of an employee survey show how unhappy her "team" is.

I disagree, I put my foot down on multiple things I think isn’t right, sometimes I don’t get the result I wanted but sometimes I’m wrong, other times I’m right and my manager listens and if I’m right he’ll take what I’ve said on board and act accordingly, vice versa (1)
