It’s the very first story in the Book of Mormon. It’s emphasizes a lot. Basically an evil king wasn’t allowing the people access to the religious texts so god sent a man to unalive him and take the religious text. It says specifically it is better for one man to perish than for an entire generation to be led astray.

Im an exmo and Direct Descendant of Joseph Smith (founder of church) and several other mormon "prophets" this is true at one point the church believed in 2 different blood oaths until my GGG-Grandpa Heber J. Grant ended the first one and Ezra Taft Benson ended the second one
