@_bradmead: 5 WAYS TO GENERATE POSTER IDEAS 💫 When thinking of ideas I go through these stages, in this exact order, until I settle on something to create. There's nothing groundbreaking here, but it's amazing how easy it can be to forget about the design books sitting on the shelf and the endless amount of fonts just waiting to be discovered. If you've watched the video and want more, here are the steps in a little more detail: 1. Take notes. Every time you have an interesting thought, write it down. Even the 'kinda good' ideas. Most of my posters are ideas myself of yesterday had. 2. Look at work that inspires you. It's obvious, but so important. Fill your feed with it and keep great design close - fill your bookshelf, if you can. Look through when you're running low on creative thoughts. 3. Go out and discover new fonts and photography. Refill your supply with something fresh and think of how you could make something with it. 4. You've heard this one before: go and do something - anything that isn't design. Go for a walk, wash-up, have ashower. Let your brain work for you. It sounds so strange, but works so well. 5. If all else fails, sit down and just start creating. Open up your blank canvas and go for it — start putting things on there even if it doesn't feel right yet. After all, everything starts from nothing. If I'm ever still struggling to create something after these 5 steps, I may just come back another day.
