Electrical is a super diverse trade. I’ve wired houses hospitals and mine sites, set poles and strung ASCR, worked oil and gas, done service work and now maintain a substation. If you don’t like electrical, try diversifying your work.

This is a good assessment. The pay cut thing is so real. I can’t count how many people I’ve come across that say “I don’t want to start out at $15/hr…blah blah blah” but then 2-3 years later they can make $30+/hr. They would rather work at Bucee’s making $20 temporarily. I started at $8/hr and been doing it for 19 years and now make almost $200k/year. Just keep looking forward and pushing through it 💪

The issue I commonly have, as an apprentice first year. Is the things my j men allow me to do alone. They don’t allow me to take my time to learn for myself and make it neat like I want it. So it ends up being rushed and being worse then it would have if they were to give me time to learn, and show them what I know. Which is frustrating. And stressful.

Did it for thirty years , in the end it was endless nepotism that ended it for me . Finished my career doing something completely different with a real union , wish I quite electrical a lot sooner than I did

Or apply for the IBEW and do your apprenticeship through them and actually have training, a fair wage and you don’t have to buy benders, drills, saws, bits etc. all you need is hand tools

As a woman in the trades, you won’t always find a pink porta john or a clean one. Holding it will cause bladder/intestinal issues later in life. Keep Clorox wipes handy to sanitize the seat and other surfaces when needed. 😁
