everytime a teach someone photography i talk to them about the metering modes. mainly if they're gonna shoot natural light. i find it ultra important.

Metering modes were usefull with DSLR because you had to « guess » the exposure of the final shot. But nowadays with EVF, you can just use EVF and exposure compensation dial. It’s litterally the same purpose but faster.

And if you like that, get a normal exposimeter and use that instead of the one on your camera, that will teach you some more and is the most interesting way to take images
