I mean it’s not gambling, but roughly 90% of hedge funds managers underperform the s&p500. So i would say ETF’s are great for building wealth. But it’s still better than to not invest at all

I don't know. Losing 1000 usd for the chance of being successful one day sounds like a gamble to me. Not the kind you do in casinos but still a gamble that a lot of (poor) people can't afford

How long have you been invested and have you ever invested outside a bull market? What about even the vast majority of hedge fund mangers that can't beat sp500 in the long run? Everyone is a genius in a bull market

we have never interacted but you have impacted me pretty well. I was always into finance as a kid but I couldn't invest cuz I was too young for an account. Then I just start procrastinating thinking I'm too young to invest but now I realize it's never too early

You aren’t 100% wrong but let’s not forget the risks. I lost £5000 from trying to get higher returns. And my dad lost £10 mil lol. You can say it’s cuz I’m not knowledgeable enough but most people ain’t. I made some TikToks sharing the mistakes if anyone’s interested. I’m a behavioural scientist so I explained from a psychology perspective

I couldn’t agree more. I hold some ETF’s for protection but I’ve done WAY better with the individual stocks in my portfolio. MOST of the time, it’s not bad selection for why people underperform the S&P, it’s their temperament or panic selling at bad times!

It's not gambling, but there are more risks which is kind of like gambling. There are more factors which are out of a business's control. Examples would be covid and tariffs. ETFs are best for building wealth long term because it will most likely go up no matter what and it's hundreds of stocks in one stock. Not to mention taxes from constant buying and selling of individual stocks will delay long term compounding where true wealth occurs.

Thank you. High conviction stocks are riskier but are still viable.

What’s your rate of return in the 7 years. Saying you made 100k in that time is not a great indicator of the success you have or haven’t had

I’m only individual stocks at the moment but I don’t understand that we are in one of the craziest markets - look at Open lol, I think it’s easier to say it’s better than ETFs currently, but at the same time this AI boom could go on and on and on…
