It’s dehydrated nail, often from chemicals. Firstly confirm it’s not a fungal infection.When you file a nail using an abrasive file like that you would’ve filed through 2 of the 4 layers on nail only weakening it. Almond oil or vitaminE would rehydrate nail. (Tech & educator for 38yrs)

That's not True at all.That means that you're air dry polish has oxidized. unless you as the technician are damaging their nail, they should not need to take a break.Also , coconut oil is the worst oil to moisturize with.
