His disdain for women is so apparent too, getting upset the man inherited the store from his wife’s father, the trailer park manager telling him she can’t give out no information, Carla Jean. Him being challenged by women in any sense gives a cool insight to what I think is part of his mentality.

This time around I noticed how brilliant the sound design of the coin toss scene is. All we hear is the silence of being in the middle of nowhere, but as the scene drags on we hear a wind sound getting louder. Brilliant movie

I always felt the reason old man truly bothers Anton so much is he’s the foil to Anton’s beliefs. He was brought to the gas station by fate (inheritance from wife’s father’s passing), he didn’t beg for his life and he truly is favored by fate. You can see chigur unnerved by the old man being allowed to live and even, without intending to, comes across silly in his rather serious point about ensuring to value that quarter as it’s his “lucky quarter”
