8 years before he proposed. Granted we met in high school but still. Both of us went to college and started jobs before he was able to save up for a ring. We’ve now been together 15 years, married for 5. Sometimes there’s other reasons for not asking so soon.

If I want to get married, I’m not waiting. I’ll tell him he’s my choice for a life partner & ask if he knows if I’m his choice. If yes, I’ll ask if he wants to get married in the next yr, if he says yes, then I’ll ask if he will propose in the next month. If he says ‘someday’, I’m breaking up with him and going husband shopping. Lots of fish in the sea. I’m looking for a good guy who wants to get married. He clearly doesn’t qualify.
