I’ve read ALL of King’s Novels multiple times, had high hopes for this movie. I prefer this ending. It makes it much more of a bleak ending. Ties better to the allegory of the Vietnam War as well.

Pete’s wish was for there to be two winners. Since he won, he used his wish to be able to fulfill Ray’s wish. Thus allowing for both of them to be the winner. If he lived, he got to fulfill his brothers wish and keep the money, and if he died he got to be with his brother again. This ending was brilliant.

I’m not sure the books ending would work for the movie given the revenge plot they set up. But I don’t think the movies ending was all that great.

In my opinion it was better and it was more fitting for the climate of the world we are in now, it also did just as good of a job or better at portraying the same message

I liked the movie ending better was more emotional and made sense with the film but I really surprised me when I watched the movie I didn’t see the change coming.

It kinda fell flat for me, I think there was a lot of emotion lost the way it ended. There was no feelings of revenge, no feelings of justice, just ehhh. I think it was kind of under directed, they should have had some Aronofsky style craziness to sell it

I knew nothing of the book or anything about it before I saw it this weekend. It was jarring when certain things happened, but it was so good. I really liked it. Now I am planning to read the book.
