I prefer the original finish. It shows the detail so much better, and I love the color variations. Now it looks sort of lifeless.

stunning! could a two part bleach be used in place of the stripper? or even just poly stripper from Bunnings? asking because I have both of those things but not the Fiddes paint and varnish stripper.

I think it is timeless, classy. I work in furniture and a lighter stain on this or paint would have diminished that elegance. also those lion heads will look fab on a future project I am sure!
