If you can find the hidden entrance to this old slate mine in mid Wales, you will ascend on an out of world experience Think long dark tunnels. Flooded chambers creating the deepest, clearest underground "lakes" Follow the train tracks and you'll find the old mining carts and abandoned cranes 800 feet inside the mountain Unless you know where you're looking the entrance to this Walking Dead world is easily missed (I walked past it the first time!) Eerily quiet. Insanely dark. And so so spooky!! Being the cold water and quarry addict I am, despite probably my better judgment and advice from everyone else, I was 100% swimming in here I spend around 3 hours underground and didn't even explore half of what this amazing mine has to offer. I came across 5 lakes whilst I was here... Some of which were so deep you couldn't even see the bottom! The ladders here are super sketchy with some sheer drops in parts. Head torch is definitely a necessity here. And whilst I went alone I'd strongly advise not doing this!
