And if, as a parent, you notice yourself treating your children differently — it’s because you do. This isn’t failure. It’s reality. No two siblings ever had the same mother. No two siblings ever had the same father. Because parents adapt to meet the needs of their children. And children adapt to meet the needs of their parents. The firstborn will always have a different experience to the second or third. Even in this video — yes, both children get chocolate in the end. But the son still has to wait. He has to wait for her needs to be met first, and this might develop into a program and behavior of always putting others before himself, (as an example). And she, in turn, will grow up noticing the ways her brother is treated differently to her. This is the human experience. We are never treated equally. But we can still live in harmony. Because in the end, our differences are far fewer than our similarities.
