My aunt edith harvested Kudzu. She taught all over the south about the uses of the flowers for amazing jams and the leaves as natural medicines-- as learned from Japanese culture. She kept farm cattle fed off of it when a bad drought hit in the 1970s. Even before that, she kept the family fed on fried kudzu leaves and her other famous dishes for every family event. She just passed a few days ago just as the kudzu flowers began to bloom. I don't live in the South anymore, but I love seeing it when I'm home. I love kudzu and everything she taught about it.

Get the goats on it. Seems to be the only thing that makes a dent in it.

Kudzu was brought to the United States by Japanese representatives at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition as an ornamental plant. In the 1950s, the government removed kudzu from its list of acceptable cover crops, and it was later declared a noxious weed.

Kudzu was brought over for decor, then during the dépression when the south’s terrible farming practices really started to come back at them, they Found out it really built up organic matter in the soil. But a lot of Farms still didnt make it even with the better soil, so they left to live/work in Town for a few years so they could pay bills and when they came back their Farms has been swallowed. Not any one persons fault, and we wouldnt have this issue if the south didnt farm their ground until it was a fine powder that Held no nutrition in it at all

Unfortunately, it has become destructive and kills thousands of acres of natural flora, including grass trees, bushes shrubs. It also destroys flowering plants which affects the pollinator population.
