probably part of the problem is even saying "by 36 months" that's a damn 3 year old toddler. not a 36 month baby.

Disposable diapers also take the discomfort out of accidents, whereas cloth diapers allowed the child to realize that accidents were uncomfortable.

3 kids..all potty trained before 18 months. who are these parents wanting to change a 3 year old's diaper?

kids didn't change, the definition of being potty trained changed lol 😅 they were potty trained at 18 months, still having heaps of accidents.

I know parents might hate this comparison but it's like housebreaking a puppy. letting them use puppy pads indoors confuses them when you want them to go outside. just start taking them outside right away (or using a grass patch alternative if a lawn isn't available)

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that less mothers were staying at home. less time to commit to potty training because they were forced into the work force

I was forced into this type of potty training when I was 7-8 months old. Later I became a bed wetter for several years (traumatic for me) and have had to deal with gastrointestinal issues my entire life. So as with everything, every child is different. There is no one size fits all for child development.

In 1940 most children weren’t in daycare.

I felt 22 months was insanely late for mine. My nieces and nephews are all over 36 months before they even started. I don’t know how people handle diapers that long.

Would love to see some data on how often those ‘toilet trained’ at 18 months wet and soiled themselves, or became bedwetters. Both my girls were toilet trained between 2-2.5 years old and have literally never had an accident (now 4 and 7 years old)

You’re neglecting a glaringly key point here in terms of change and also culture. Modern women in the West are forced by culture and circumstance to return to the workforce earlier and earlier. Bit hard to support EC and watch for your baby’s signs when you are at work.

Here for the me me :
No child should be in diapers by the time they are entering school (excluding children with disabilities that might make the toilet a life long issue). No teacher should potty train your child

Let’s face it. More and more parents don’t want to have to potty train. Instead, they are going to kindergarten in pull ups. Five years old and STILL IN PULL UPS. Excuse: Doesn’t want to stop playing. 😳

I’m originally from Sri Lanka and I’ve witnessed people potty training babies all the time. It requires dedication and much more effort. The time that only SAHMs have. And the fact that it’s always summer in some countries where babies can be in nappies or without pants help a lot. My nephew was potty trained since 6 months. He only actually started doing it at 2 years old. I potty trained my son at 2.5 and he had zero accidents from day one. I’d say he was ready for maybe 2-3 months before I actually tried.

disposable diapers is what did it. if todays mom had to wash diapers the kids would be out of them at 8 months 🤣

My daughter is 17 months and she peed on the potty all on her own today. We’ve been doing baby led potty training since 12 months.

in 1940 mom had to potty train because she was already pregnant again and they couldn't afford to do that much laundry

We are potty trained at 19 months! 🥰👏🏼 but also I’m a stay at home mum, and I think that makes a huge difference in how long kids are taking to get toilet trained.

My Nana did EC on all 5 of her children and lovingly recalled to me on many occasions that they were all toilet trained by 12 months old. I was always so proud of her for that.
