I had an ongoing issue that none of my gynos could solve until one dude was like "never experienced that before.. I'll see what I can find" and found some obscure study about it and tried a new medicine based on the study results and it actually worked

As someone with multiple chronic illnesses- I prefer when my specialists do research on my conditions and treatments, instead of just dismissing me or pretending to know what to do!

I teach my residents not to be afraid to look stuff up in real time. I look stuff up in front of my patients. “This isn’t something I’ve seen in a couple of years. Let me make sure I have the latest information to give you” I have yet to have anyone complain about getting up to date care

OK, I don’t want my Dr going in the blind. Just guessing I need him to know how to treat me and if that means Google go ahead why not we use Google too? The only problem I have is when doctors call you, Dr Google

My husband presented with kind of obscure symptoms of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and the first doctor he saw didn’t catch it, but it triggered something for a young NP, so she googled to verify, and was able to give him the proper treatment.
