@flexplained101: Ever wonder why you're so sore 2 days after leg day? It's not the muscle tears themselves, and it's definitely not lactic acid (that's cleared in an hour!). The pain we call "DOMS" is the inflammation and swelling caused by your body's own "repair crew" rushing in to fix the damage 24-48 hours later. Mind blown? 🤯 Share this with your gym partner! #DOMS #MuscleSoreness #FitnessExplained #WorkoutScience #GymTok
He still doesn't explain what it is, he just says it goes into full on repair mode. After a month of weight training your muscles don't get that sore, so is the body not repairing itself.

I read somewhere that micro tears weren't accurate, and that was the old school of thought.

Why does baking soda help you recuperate from muscle soreness? What is the mechanism behind it?

I read that just because you’re not sore doesn’t mean you’re not building muscles. ChatGPT confirmed that as well

First time doing legs after awhile of not lifting is fun...2 days later you cant walk for 4 days.

As a person who looked at the original studies on this in my physiology class, I firmly reject this theory. If these were tears, how would stretching be a good thing and create relief. The other theory is micro cramps, which make a lot more sense and stems from neurological factors. Go have a Massage Therapist work on an annual field, micro cramps everywhere.
