@NZNO #firefightersunion #psa #nzctu #nzno #nzfpu #. Me tika te utu. - me Kaitiaki te hauora Fair pay we demand - healthcare we protect This strike is not an act of selfishness — it is an act of deep care. Care for the people who come through our doors every day, trusting that we will be there to uphold their dignity, to ease their pain, and to walk with them on their health journey. But we all know the truth: our working conditions are unsafe. Our workloads are unsustainable. Our pay does not reflect the skills, the sacrifices, and the aroha we pour into this mahi every single day. When we are stretched beyond breaking, when we are asked to do the impossible, it is our patients and our whānau who suffer. That is not the care they deserve, and that is not the care we were called into nursing to give. We are here today because we believe in better. Better conditions that allow us to care safely. Better pay that honours the mana of our profession. Better recognition of the value we bring not only to hospitals and clinics, but to all our whanau. This strike is about fairness. It is about equity. It is about the right of every whānau to receive care that is safe, compassionate, and timely — and the right of every nurse to work in conditions that uphold our dignity and wellbeing. E hoa mā, this movement is bigger than today. It is a stand for the future of nursing. It is a stand for the new graduates who deserve a profession worth staying in. It is a stand for the kaumātua in our care, for the pēpi, for the māmā, for every whānau who depend on us. Let us hold our heads high. Let us speak with courage. Let us show Aotearoa that when nurses rise, we rise for everyone.
