@tiredoldman101: Look, this is going to be shocking to some, and I get it. But we have to deal with this reality. See, Jesus wasn't just all flowers and peace. It really would be wonderful if that was what our world was like, but it isn't. Jesus, when confronted with evil, resorted to some pretty harsh name-calling. Jesus, when confronted with injustice, knew when to start flipping tables. It's all recorded in the Bible for us to see. When he saw evil that was harming  people, he had harsh words. When He saw injustice that was harming people, He flipped tables. When He had the opportunity to lay down His life for people, He did so without hesitation and without fighting back. When he was confronted with honest questions and people who were legitimately searching, He had kind and patient, often blunt, words. His whole ministry was about "people." His whole ministry was about "others." If we are to follow Him, we need to know when it's time to show kindness and patience, and when it's time to be harsh and flip some tables. Otherwise, we get stuck in some kind of pseudo-Christianity that doesn't live the whole Gospel. It's up to every individual Christian to use discernment to decide how to respond to a situation. It's your life, your relationship with God, and your consequences. But, let me give you a basic guideline that I think will help. If we are upset because something wounded our pride or someone hurt us or insulted us, we should think long and hard about responding. We should not be "me" centered. I don't get to call someone evil because they upset me. I don't get to call someone BAD because we had a disagreement. Sometimes the person is indeed behaving in an evil manner and needs a harsh response. Other times, maybe we just had our pride wounded. However, using Jesus' others-centered model, if someone is causing or promoting harm to other people, then we are not only justified in responding boldly and harshly, but I believe we are compelled by God to do so.
