And dropouts are becoming a LOWER share because they'll work any job that just needs someone with a pulse 😭

Elite overproduction. One of three important reasons civil war happens. The other two are wage stagnation and income inequality. This is a huge danger to our nation.

Well this chart also shows that high school graduates also have the same unemployment rate, drop outs have less unemployment. This is like saying drop out of high school to get a job. It’s just those available jobs have less requirements but also lower pay

I find it more interesting that this trend started in 2015 but you barely heard about it until this year.

median college debt is less than 30k. that student loan payment is cheaper than any new car payment.

People in the comments need to learn to read a graph. This is what percent of all unemployed people each group takes up, dropouts are not necessarily more employed, there are just fewer of them overtime. Which is a fatal flaw in this graph, it makes no account for how these populations grew or shrank over the timeframe.

it's really unfortunate, especially since so many people that don't end up going to college wind up completely lacking media and data literacy. making it harder for college graduates to find jobs discourages people from going to college (of course) but it also ensures that people don't develop critical thinking skills which is why so many people fall so easily to propaganda - reading headlines without looking any closer at the studies the headlines talk about, taking the word of people they like without any due diligence or followup...

When I was in university to get into the college for my major, I had to go through an extra line of testing to get in. Then to get into my major, which was the top program in the country at the time, I had to take additional testing to see if I qualified. So it was almost like I applied to get into three different college programs coming out of high school because they refused to be affiliated with the general population of the university as a whole… and I’m currently employed so it served me well, but that’s what my program thought of JUST college students. Underqualified and needing additional testing just to verify. It was a sign even then of the view of college graduates declining. Then for the next decade, we had to watch people fight that.

No schools are actually teaching financial literacy. the colleges preach that a degree will get you a job most times before you even graduate as well as earn more $

This graph is just bad graphing. It totally doesn't adjust for how the MAKEUP of the adult population has changed over time wrt educational levels.

We were told it was for getting a job and taking a $100k loan out at 18 is not financial literacy. That's selling yourself off.

Look up opt visas. Companies are incentivized to discriminate against American graduates in favor of foreigners. Each opt hire is like 15% savings in fica taxes. New grad unemployment is so high it’s a shame they haven’t stopped the opt program.

That’s because they want you to get two part time jobs instead of a full time one. The newly created jobs are mostly part time 😂

This chart doesn’t say much on its own. The % of college graduates who are unemployed may be the exact same but since there are more of them they make up a larger share of unemployed people
