![New hill to die on: There is no such thing as lazy. (I am great at dinner parties!) Seriously though, I work with SO many people who were told their whole lives that they are lazy and they would be more successful if they just knuckled down and had more discipline. Those school reports that told you you had great potential but you just needed to apply yourself. Apply ourselves to what? To whose standard? I didn't even mention how we've demonised the very concept of rest as something that we have to earn, or work towards - how often do people refer to a quiet, restful day as a 'lazy day'? Neurodivergence. Grief. Trauma. Chronic health conditions. Hormones. Life stress. Motivation. Nervous system stimulation. Self-esteem. I'm not buying into the concept of laziness anymore. This idea just hatched in my brain today so I would LOVE to hear your thoughts!
