my in laws and my own dad are exactly like this. in fact they cancel plans with us all the time because of their dog. they forget my kids bdays and never make any effort

Ok, I’m with the mom on this one. I raised 2 children, mostly alone. Now I’m by myself and a dog (grown, not even a puppy) came into my life. It’s more restrictive to my life than a human child and will never become more independent.

TBF, I got us a lab puppy when our son was only 3 months old and it's been a WILD ride. We have a chaos toddler now but the dog is still worst 😅🤣

I did both at the same time. 🫠😵💫 let's just say I love both my puppy and baby but I was losing my mind! 😄 baby and dog are now 5 years old and are the best of friends. 💖☺️💖

Not gonna lie, I compare raising my younger kids to training dogs ALL the time 😂😂 (I have both so yes I know raising kids is harder but there are similarities)
