@thebudgetmom: Looking back at our first trip to Yellowstone National Park, here’s what I would’ve done differently — plus some tips to save you money if you’re planning your own trip: ✨ You’ll pay way more for the convenience of staying inside the park at one of their lodges. It’s nice, but definitely not the most budget-friendly option. You can look at all the park-run lodging options and prices at: www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com (the official site for booking). ✨ Don’t expect fine dining at Yellowstone. Some meals are okay, but I highly suggest packing your own breakfasts and lunches and eating at one of the beautiful picnic areas instead. ✨ Give yourself some extra time in Jackson Hole — it’s a cute little town worth exploring before or after your park days. ✨ Do the Circle of Fire Tour on your first full day. It gives you a great overview and ideas for the rest of your trip (especially if you’re new to the park like we were). ✨ Download movies from your streaming apps before you go. There’s limited service, no wifi, and no TVs in most of the park lodges. ✨ Research which entrance you’ll use based on where you’re staying. It will determine a lot of what you see and how much time you spend driving. ✨ Gas is much cheaper in Jackson Hole than inside the park, so fill up before you enter. ✨ Pack plenty of snacks, drinks, and refillable water bottles before you go — buying them inside the park adds up fast.
