@hollandcouple: 📍 Location: Stansbury Island (send me a message if you want the exact coordinates!) . If you put “Stansbury Island” on Google Maps, it’ll take you only halfway. You’ll need to keep going on a gravel road for about 3 miles. Using the coordinates is easier and takes you straight there! . 🛣️ The Road: you’ll go east from SLC on I-80 and follow directions to Stansbury Island. At one point, there will be a gravel road, but it’s pretty well kept. No 4-wheeler needed, but it’s rocky so go slow if you don’t have an SUV. . 🌸 The Lake: it’s pink year-round, but the shade changes depending on the month. The best time to visit is late summer and fall. September is when the colors peak, so go ASAP! . 🌅 We shot these videos from 4pm to sunset, the pink turned into purple as the sun went down. . 💧 the lake is in a salt desert, so bring water to rinse off afterward, you’ll have salt everywhere! . ♻️ Leave No Trace and take everything with you. . So, I'm from Utah, and I wouldn't step foot in these. Here's why. The pink color comes from microorganisms that thrive in the salty environment, but the water itself is runoff from several factories. There's no fresh water that goes into them. It's chemical filled bi product that's super salty, and can burn your skin. So, while the pink looks enchanting and “natural,” it’s essentially industrial evaporation ponds + microbial bloom. Beautiful to look at, but be conscious of the risks you're taking. 🙌
