fast car is such a specific representation of feminism for brown women, in a way that’s often misunderstood when viewed through the lense of western feminism. you embodied that so beautifully!! you’re also stunning that burnt amber is so your color

Cherry :

It’s like this song was made for the sitar

Kaleb :

When I ask for a side of cornbread with my tikka masala

Mars :

tracy chapman would absolutely love this

LooksLikeaTortilla :

The drone builds so much tension to the song that it fits so well 😌

Vineel Mahal :

Gosh it’s so beautiful! For anyone new to Indian music by the way, this instrument is called a Veena, not a sitar, though they can both sound somewhat similar. This type of Veena is usually used for South Indian Classical music (Carnatic Music)

Emily :

Hey so I’m levitating, is that normal?

arkalasia :

The droning adds so much to the song. I can’t articulate it but it just fits the whole song and theme.

xIAMSANx :

Your pitch is INSANE!

tay :

I didn’t expect you to SING too. You’re so good

PoopityScoop :

And then she started playing Fast Car on a Veena...

I don't think I've ever heard a veena used for a western song, it's absolutely divine

aubstronomy :

and what if i sobbed? what then?

Ro Mars :

Hey my body is emanating an ancient and radiant light, is that normal?

batscratch :

my dad passed away three months ago. he introduced me to so many musicians, Tracy Chapman included, this song specifically. I wish beyond anything else that I could have shown him your cover. I'm in pieces.
