@literary_lyns: posting normal booktok content feels sort of weird with the current climate of the world, but hopefully this will help some of you gain the perspective and knowledge that we should ALL have (': if you want to be a hot girl who is disgustingly overeducated, here's a place to start! #booktokfyp #bookrecs #nonfiction #booktokgirlies #booktokcommunity
It’s already exhausting being well educated in America today

Caste changed my life. I would also add Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee for an accurate account of Native History.

This is the second time Jesus and John Wayne popped up on my feed today…hmmm…I think Caste should be required reading in high school. But, that’s not going to happen. Glad to see somebody posting nonfiction on here. 😊

If you liked Caste, I think you’ll like The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander. And get the 2020 edition with the new foreword

if you’re interested in the patriarchy and christianity, i recommend “the making of biblical womanhood” by beth barr!! dr barr is a church and women’s historian that writes predominantly in women in the church. this book is about how the patriarchy was intertwined gospel, and that it doesn’t have to be that way
