@tranquilitybyhehe: 23 weeks pregnant (25 on paper) and we had our very first in-person visit with our homebirth midwives—and y’all… it was amazing. 🤩 • • • They spent over two hours with us in our home. No rush. No clipboard checklists. Just thoughtful, grounded care. We listened to baby with both the fetoscope and the doppler (a beautiful little heartbeat!), and they palpated my belly—baby is head down for now! • But the best part? The connection. •
We spent most of the visit with them getting to know us—not just as a pregnant person and birth partner, but as people, as humans, as mom & dad. We talked about our relationship history, communication styles, coping preferences, and what we both want from this birth experience. • We touched on big topics too—like transfer planning (I’ll go deeper on that soon), newborn procedures like vitamin K and circumcision, how birth certificates work with homebirth, and what kind of support we want in labor. Yes, we’re having hiring the TBH team (because they are literally the best out there). • Mr. HeHe and I also each shared what’s been sitting on our hearts lately—he brought up concerns about being the only one home if labor moves quickly, and I talked about wanting a really cohesive experience if we do transfer, my history with MCAS, and how that ties into rare complications like AFE. It feels so good to be seen and supported by a team that values curiosity, consent, and conversation over protocol. • • • This is the kind of care I wish every pregnant person had access to. One that sees the whole person, not just the pregnancy or the baby or the procedures or the hospital policy. • 💬COMMENT💬 and tell me about your relationship with your provider!! What questions are you asking at your prenatal visits? Let’s make space for the things that actually matter. • • • #homebirth #homebirthbaby #homebirthmama #homebirthmidwife #homebirthing

Hi! You may have said this in a past video but I’m curious, what does “__ on paper” mean? I’m currently working admin at an OBGYN and also pregnant with my first and I’m unfamiliar with that🩷🩷

This is so helpful! We are planing for a home with our next baby after a somewhat traumatic first hospital birth with our first.
