its my least favorite of the series as well, and Matt says at the beginning in the forward to not focus on how the trains work, I dont think we are supposed to know so I wouldn't stress it much. I agree it takes me out of the immersion as well. the series really ramps up from here and the world building is insane

Just finished that recently and thought the same thing!! I read it physically and was still confused so can’t even imagine on audio. Love the characters though so it was a 4⭐️but I liked the fourth one better!!!

I’m stuck a little bit in this book. The first two I flew through. This one’s taking me a little longer. I still love it, but I’m going at a slower pace. I’m saving this to come back and finish watching!!

Dacb gets better upon reread: the character work, team building, glimpses of the inside/outside of the dungeon, and of course the Cookbook are so significant in the coming books. As with the gimmicks of the non-Scolopendra levels, the ‘game system’ on each level becomes a framework to hang the story upon. For me 5,7,1,6,3,4,2- but that order changes with each reread!
