the sheriff was in on it until he saw that his wife and daughter were also involved and he didn't know it. There were others too. that's why he was fearing for his life. the FBI really need to get involved and talk to women that went before this judge and find out who else from this police department and court house were involved. he's not a hero if he was part of it.
