@crmnallyobsessed: The prime suspect in one of the world's most famous missing persons cases was released from prison today -- and he is refusing to cooperate with authorities. 3-year-old Madeleine McCann disappeared from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on the evening of May 3, 2007, while her parents dined nearby. Despite extensive investigations by Portuguese, British and German authorities over the years, no one has ever been convicted of her abduction or death, and her whereabouts remain unknown. In 2020, German prosecutors officially named Christian Brueckner a prime suspect. Brueckner is a German national with a history of sexual offenses, who was living in the Algarve area of Portugal around the time McCann went missing. Brueckner was imprisoned in Germany for a separate rape conviction of a 72-year-old woman in Portugal and is due for release Wednesday, September 16th, 2025. He refused to be interviewed by the UK’s Metropolitan Police before his release from prison. German prosecutors believe Madeleine is dead and that Brucekner was likely involved, but they acknowledge there is not yet sufficient evidence (especially forensic) to prosecute.
