When it first happened it wasn’t called Christian girl autumn, it was just a current trend. But I think once it was labeled CGA it was co-opted to push a right leaning narrative.

I think the thing that's tricky with it is that it wasn't fascist in its heyday. It was very cozy and Midwestern. Most of my friends wore this style when it was most popular & we were in our 20's, none of us are conservative. But none of us are really wearing it now, and I think who is still wearing it tends to be to the right.

I’d argue that we can put any fascist aesthetic through a goth girl filter to subvert fascism. I grew up in Christian Girl Autumn country. I can take their trash from thrift stores and make it freaky and witchy out of joy and spite.
