As an optician I tell people instead of your eye being a perfect circle like a baseball it’s starting to elongate like a football. The more it becomes a “football” the higher/ worse your astigmatism is

question. are those streaks people always talking about a myth? because I have serious horizontal astigmatism but I dont see those.. only through scratched/dirty lenses, windows, windshields etc

My ophthalmologist never explained astigmatism to me, he just said “if you want contacts, I just need to give you a different kind” and I had to google that shit myself.
