My inner child was traumatized too but the difference between us is that i wanted to make it better for him and he made his trauma as an excuse to hurt me every time.

it's not your responsibility to heal his inner child. you can't show up for someone else if it means abandoning yourself. he is the one that has to look at the loss of you as an opportunity to grow, not as an excuse to stay in the same place of fear and avoidance. sometimes putting yourself and your needs first means being the villian in someone else's story. all you can do now is wish him love and healing, and move forward towards someone that has the capacity to meet your where you're at!
